With the election date fast approaching, the question remains: Who will earn the trust of the undecided voters and become Australia’s next Prime Minister?
In the lead-up to the much-anticipated election, TrustLogic® presents its latest report, shedding light on the trust dynamics between the two main contenders for Australia’s top office: Anthony Albanese and Peter Dutton. The question of who will become the next Prime Minister is increasingly becoming a question of trust.
TrustLogic®’s Albanese vs Dutton Trust Report, conducted with 903 voters in the second half of March 2025, provides critical insights into
· how strongly these leaders are trusted,
· what they are trusted for, and, crucially,
· what they need to do to build more trust among voters
The power in this election lies with the undecided voters. More than 1 in 3 voters remain undecided.

Importantly, the report highlights that Peter Dutton is currently less trusted (4.2 out of 10) compared to Anthony Albanese (5.2 out of 10). This makes undecided voters twice as likely to vote for Mr Albanese.

Peter Dutton’s biggest challenge lies in relating well to undecided voters. Almost half of undecided voters don’t trust him to relate well to them. For Mr Albanese that’s only about 1/3.

For Mr Dutton to enhance his standing, he must focus on demonstrating his ability to connect with voters and prove his value to their daily lives.

On the other hand, while Anthony Albanese holds a slight edge in trust, he must also work to convince undecided voters of the value he brings and build more trust around his vision and values.

If voter choice is a matter of trust with the 1 in 4 undecided, then Mr Albanese has a clear trust advantage. And if the last debate between Mr Dutton and Mr Albanese is considered, the gap has probably widened further.
